The key to the successes of Energiequelle, established in 1997, is the commitment and extensive expertise of its management: Michael Raschemann, a civil engineer, did his dissertation at a major German wind turbine maker and the many years of experience subsequently gained on that basis safeguard an unusual level of engineering know-how. Joachim Uecker, a banker by profession, was responsible for over ten years at major German banks for loans to finance wind energy projects – an ideal foundation for the commercial and administrative management of the company.

Energiequelle is currently working on projects involving combinations of renewable energies. At Falkenthal in Brandenburg, electricity from wind, bio- and solar energy is being used in a path-breaking energy concept. ‘Feldheim – the energy self-sufficient village’ is a project spearheaded by Energiequelle GmbH, and the first place in Germany to be totally autarchic, both physically and technically, by covering all its energy requirements with renewable energies.

New methods of energy supply are prepared intensively at Energiequelle. The aims of the Feldheim New Energies Forum, currently in planning, is to demonstrate various ways of using renewable energies, to disseminate information at special events organised for that purpose, and to conduct tests and research on systems for storing different forms of energy.

Projects under construction:

Energiequelle GmbH is currently implementing a number of photovoltaic projects in Germany and Italy with a totall installed power capacity of 12.3 MW. In the municipality of Schipkau in Brandenburg, we will taking a 500-kW biogas plant online in the third quarter of this year. Another three 500-kW plants will be connected to the gas grid in the course of 2010. Our project schedule for 2010 also includes the installation of 27 wind turbines with a total power capacity of 50.5 MW.

In the medium term, in addition to the planning work carried out to date, we intend to do the planning and implementation for more energy-sufficient villages and towns based on the model already provided by the energy self-sufficient village of Feldheim.
